Former Tigers defensive lineman set to transfer from Jackson State

Former Auburn defensive lineman will now likely transfer to a third destination.

The college career for Coynis Miller certainly has been far from what anybody would have envisioned.

The native of Birmingham, Alabama came out of high school regarded as a four-star by 247Sports. He committed to the Tigers on Oct. 14, 2017. The product of Jackson-Olin high school was a highly-anticipated recruit in the 2018 class, but things never seemed to pan out.

In three seasons on the Plains, he recorded just nine tackles and 1.5 sacks. After the 2020 season, Miller announced that he was transferring from the program. It didn’t take long for Miller to find himself a new home. Jackson State head coach Deion Sanders brought in a plethora of transfers with one of the most notable being Miller. Along with Miller, Sanders also landed eighteen other transfers in the portal.

After spending one lone season at Jackson State, he recorded 20 total tackles, five tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks. It didn’t take long for Miller to begin looking elsewhere once again. He has now entered the transfer portal yet again.

Wherever he chooses to go, it will be his third destination. Several teams to keep a close eye on would be in-state programs like Samford, UAB, and Troy. It is possible that he returns to Jackson State, but the chances are unlikely.

It will be interesting to see who takes a chance on the talented defensive lineman that was once a Tiger.
