Why now is the best time for Boston Celtics to play Brooklyn Nets in the 2022 NBA Playoffs

Believe it or not, there are good arguments to rip the bandaid off now.

The Boston Celtics are looking increasingly likely to end up having to face the Brooklyn Nets in the first round of the 2022 NBA Playoffs with the Nets set to play a banged-up Cleveland Cavaliers for the seven – eight play-in game Tuesday evening.

Is this a potential disaster in the making, or a low-key boon to Boston? While it is very understandable to worry about facing so much offensive firepower in Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving so early in the postseason as a “prize” for finishing the second half of the 2021-22 NBA season strong, there are also good arguments for taking on the Nets now.

The host of the “Locked On Celtics” podcast John Karalis and guest Tom Westerholm of Boston.com made the case for an early collision with Brooklyn in the postseason.

Check the clip linked above to hear their takes on why an early meeting with the Nets is exactly what the Celtics should want.
