Colts expected to sign S Rodney McLeod

The Colts are expected to sign S Rodney McLeod.

The Indianapolis Colts are expected to sign former Philadelphia Eagles safety Rodney McLeod, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

An undrafted free agent following the 2012 NFL draft, McLeod got his start with the St. Louis Rams where he spent the first four seasons of his career. He became a full-time starter with the Rams in 2013, holding that role until he signed a five-year deal with the Eagles in 2016.

In 139 career games (123 starts), McLeod has recorded 593 tackles (433 solo), 11 forced fumbles, 16 interceptions, 15 tackles for loss and 52 passes defended.

With safety depth needed behind Julian Blackmon and Khari Willis, the Colts made those moves this week. First, it was by signing Armani Watts to a one-year deal. Now, they add even more depth with a veteran safety in McLeod.

Expect McLeod to play more as the rotational safety behind Willis and Blackmon while Watts contributes more on special teams than he does on defense.
