Unlike last year with Trevor Lawrence, there won’t be a Tiger selected No. 1 in this year’s NFL draft; however, at least two former Clemson players will still likely hear their names called.
In Bleacher Report’s latest draft big board, the media company’s scouting department ranked cornerback Andrew Booth Jr. as the 25th best overall prospect while wide receiver Justyn Ross fell to 33rd.
Both Booth and Ross received an 8.0 grade or higher, meaning the scouts believe they are year one starters and should be selected in the late first to second round.
Booth, who finished last season with three interceptions and five passes defended, underwent surgery for a sports hernia in March. On its big board, Bleacher Report rated Booth the fifth-best corner in the draft, behind LSU’s Derek Stingley Jr. and Cincinatti’s Ahmad Gardner, among others.
Meanwhile, Ross came in as the seventh-best receiver. After recovering from a spinal injury, Ross returned to the field in 2021 and led the Tigers in receiving with 514 yards on 46 receptions.
Like Booth, Ross’s injury history could drop him later in the draft. Both players have the potential to make an impact as rookies, but as with most players, where they fall could determine their success.
