The Alabama Crimson Tide has squarely been in the hunt for the top quarterback in the 2023 cycle, [autotag]Arch Manning[/autotag].
Nick Saban’s competition has been his top former assistants with Steve Sarkisian at Texas, Kirby Smart at Georgia, and Dabo Sweeney at Clemson. While the latter has fallen out of the race, one of Sweeney’s former assistants has now jumped in. Tony Elliott left his post at Clemson to take over the Cavaliers football program.
According to a report from 247Sports, the Virginia Cavaliers will now host the five-star prospect. Sam Spiegelman of On3 notes that Arch’s older sister is currently a member of the Virginia women’s volleyball team. That could be a reason to at least check it out, but I am not sure how much I would buy them being in the thick of Arch Madness.
Other schools that are climbing back into the hunt are the Florida Gators and LSU Tigers, who both made new hires over the offseason. Billy Napier has been making waves on the recruiting trails and Brian Kelly has LSU humming again after a brief exodus of talent from the Ed Orgeron firing.
