The Tigers will have one of the top players in the 2023 class on campus this weekend.
[autotag]Jayden Wayne[/autotag], a five-star defensive lineman from Tacoma (Washington) Lincoln, will make his return trip to Baton Rouge to meet with the new coaching staff in person for the first time. Wayne took a previous unofficial visit last fall for LSU’s home game against Auburn.
The No. 4 defensive lineman and No. 27 overall player in the class per the 247Sports Composite, Wayne is one of the most sought-after players in the country. The lone crystal ball projection shows him heading to Miami, but he’s coming off an unofficial visit to Alabama this past weekend.
Though this will be his first visit to campus since the new staff took over, he was previously recruited to Oklahoma by defensive line coach [autotag]Jamar Cain[/autotag] and received a scholarship offer from [autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] at Notre Dame.

Back in January, Wayne dropped a list of 11 finalists, which included the Tigers. Other teams on the list were Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Florida, Miami, Oregon, USC, Washington, Texas and Michigan State.
After his trip to Baton Rouge, he plans to head to Athens, Georgia, for the Bulldogs spring game on April 16, and he may head out west for Oregon’s the following weekend. Wayne has no timetable set for his official visit this schedule, but considering he aims to announce his commitment ahead of his senior season, those will likely come at some point this summer.
LSU will hope to crack the list of schools to receive an official visit, and it can make some progress in that regard this weekend.
