Today is going to be a special day at Augusta National. The GOAT, Tiger Woods, is going to step to the first tee at just after 11 a.m. ET due to a weather delay, and he’s going to hit his first shot in an official tournament since his very serious car accident 14 months ago that he was lucky to survive.
It’s going to be an emotional moment for everyone who appreciates the greatness of Tiger Woods.
It’s going to be emotional an emotional moment for everyone who is just glad to see him still alive and once again do something that he loves to do.
It’s going to be an emotional moment for everyone who just wants to feel what it’s like to watch Tiger Woods play in the Masters again.
But you know what? There are going to be those “fans” who complain that Tiger is getting way too much attention and that other players in the field deserve their stories to be told, too.
Don’t be the fan. Just don’t. And if you are that fan, just turn off your TV and go do something else because this event doesn’t need your miserable takes.
Tiger Woods is THE STORY this week. He played in front of massive crowds on Monday and again yesterday morning during his practice rounds. He is the needle that moves this sport and has been for quite some time. He’s always going to be story when he tees it up.
But he’s THE STORY this week because he could have died in that car accident. He could have lost a leg in that car accident. His kids could have lost their father. His friends could have lost a friend.
Thankfully that didn’t happen. Thankfully he’s still able to be there for his children. And thankfully he’s somehow able to play golf this week at Augusta National.
The other day I posted a photo gallery of his Monday practice round on Facebook and instantly a bunch of people were like “IS HE THE ONLY GUY PLAYING THIS WEEK?” “ARE YOU JUST GOING TO SHOW US TIGER WOODS THIS WEEK?”
Don’t be that fan. Just don’t. I can’t understand how sad you have to be to complain like that about something that is going to be so cool to see.
Seriously, if you’re going to be that fan just keep it to yourself. Nobody wants to hear it.
The other stories of the tournament are going to be told this week, too, especially as the tournament unfolds.
But Tiger Woods is THE STORY and we should just sit back and take it all in because we are lucky.
Let’s go have some fun.
Let’s go Tiger Woods.
