With the Philadelphia 76ers struggling to shoot the basketball, they needed somebody to finally break through and lead the team on the offensive end against the Cleveland Cavaliers on the road.
That is where Joel Embiid stepped up and provided yet another monstrous performance as he builds his case to win MVP. The big fella had 44 points, 17 rebounds, five blocks, and three assists to lead the Sixers to a 112-108 win over the Cavs and Philadelphia officially clinched a playoff spot for the fifth consecutive season.
The Sixers shot only 5-for-19 in the first quarter as a team and they were at 30.8% at the half as Cleveland built a 12-point lead. It looked like it was going to be a disappointing finish for Philadelphia as they continue to find chemistry with this new group, but Embiid wasn’t going to let that happen.
