The Aggies bagged the best recruiting class in modern college football for 2022, and they’re on the hunt to continue that success. Let’s make the rounds for the latest updates.
Big weekend of visitors:
Spring football is a popular time for big-time recruits to make both official and unofficial campus visits while they aren’t tied up in practices and games of their own, and while the Maroon & White scrimmage will be the biggest recruiting weekend of the spring, this past weekend was one for the books as well.
According to 24/7 sports A&M hosted a number of 4 and 5 star recruits over the last several days. Among them:
- 2022 5-star DL Lebbeus Overton – Alpharetta, GA
- Transfer Micaiah Overton – Liberty University
- 2023 5-star DL James Smith – Montgomery, AL
- 2023 4-star RB Cedric Baxter Jr. – Orlando, FL
- 2023 4-star CB Caleb Presley – Seattle, WA
- 2023 4-star DL Colton Vasek – Austin, TX
- 2023 4-star OL TJ Shanahan – Austin, TX
- 2023 4-star CB Sharif Denson – Jacksonville, FL
- 2023 OT Tyree Adams – New Orleans, LA
- 2023 3-star QB LAustin Novosad – Dripping Springs, TX (Baylor Commit)
Aggies Make Top 5 for 5-Star CB Tony Mitchell
Mitchell, the 3rd highest rated 2023 CB in the nation according to the 247 composite, has been pegged to stay in his home state and play for Nick Saban at Alabama since he decommitted from Tennessee, but A&M will surely make a push. The Aggies and Crimson Tide were joined by Florida, Oregon, and Georgia in Mitchell’s top-5.

2024 QB DJ Lagway picks up Aggie Baseball offer
Lagway is one of the nations top 2024 quarterbacks, and is considered a key target for the Aggies 2024 class. The baseball offer in addition to the football opportunity could be a differentiating factor for A&M following Lagway’s visit this weekend.
After a great conversation with @ncain39 blessed to say I have the opportunity to play both football and baseball at Texas A&M!!! @CoachSchloss @WildKatBSB pic.twitter.com/KAds1vWV70
