Report: Colts showing interest in LSU CB Cordale Flott

The Colts will reportedly host LSU CB Cordale Flott for a top-30 visit ahead of the 2022 draft.

The Indianapolis Colts are reportedly among the teams that have requested a “private meeting” with former LSU cornerback Cordale Flott ahead of the 2022 NFL draft.

This will count as one of the top-30 visits for the Colts ahead of the draft, a list they will undoubtedly fill out over the next month. Most of the time, they are for medical exams on a prospect.

Mike Kaye of Pro Football Network reported that the Colts are among the teams most interested in Flott.

“But following his time in Indianapolis at the NFL Combine, Flott has been in high demand. The Giants, Colts, Broncos, and Raiders all requested private meetings with the LSU cornerback, who measured in at 6-foot and 175 pounds at the annual scouting event.”

Flott didn’t test at the combine in Indianapolis. Instead, he opted to do so at LSU’s pro day on April 6. Several prospects have opted to simply test at their school’s pro day this offseason.

Flott measured in at 6-foot, 175 pounds at the combine with 30 1/8-inch arms and 8-inch hands. His arm length is shorter than what the history suggests when it comes to Chris Ballard’s preference in cornerbacks.

However, Flott is a versatile prospect with the ability to work both in the slot and on the boundary while his tackling ability will be a major positive in the eyes of the Colts.

Here’s what Lance Zierlein of NFL.com had to say about Flott’s prospect profile:

“Developmental cornerback with good speed and excellent length; he also needs to start hitting stacks of weights and pancakes. Getting Flott to fill out and grow into his frame should be the top priority for teams taking a chance on him. He plays the game fast and hard, but he hasn’t been able to find a functional level of control and recognition in his coverage. He has inside/outside experience, but the length and speed make him a likely perimeter cornerback once he gets fully acclimated outside. The athletic upside is great, but it will be asking a lot of Flott to take on big targets, which could limit his overall ceiling.”

The Colts are in need of adding to the cornerback room after trading away Rock Ya-Sin to the Las Vegas Raiders in exchange for defensive end Yannick Ngakoue.

If the Colts are targeting Flott, it’s likely going to be with one of their Day 3 picks.
