No. 5 Tennessee won its first Southeastern Conference road game of the 2022 season Friday.
The Volunteers (21-1, 4-0 SEC) posted a dominant performance against No. 2 Ole Miss (16-5, 2-2 SEC) in a 12-1 victory at Oxford-University Stadium at Swayze Field in Oxford, Mississippi.
Tennessee scored six runs in the second inning and never trailed against the Rebels. The Vols hit five home runs in the contest. Freshman left fielder and leadoff hitter Jared Dickey went 2-for-4 and homered twice. He had three RBIs.
Blake Burke had a pinch-hit home run in the ninth inning, while Luc Lipcius and Trey Lipscomb also homered for the Vols.
Cortland Lawson added a three-run triple for the Tennessee, which won its 12th consecutive game.
Chase Burns pitched a career-high seven innings and recorded 11 strikeouts, while allowing one run and two hits. He improved to 5-0 in 2022.
Mark McLaughlin and Kirby Connell each pitched one inning of scoreless relief for Tennessee.
