Armando Bacot is a big reason why the UNC basketball program finds themselves in the Sweet 16 after wins over Marquette and Baylor last week.
And now, for his efforts this season Bacot is being rewarded by one publication.
On Monday, the USA Today released their All-American team for the 2021-22 season and while he wasn’t on the first team, Bacotmade the list as a third-team selection. Bacot lands on that third team along with Chet Holmgren (Gonzaga), James Akinjo (Baylor), Johnny Juzang (UCLA), and Collin Gillespie (Villanova).
The junior is averaging 16.4 points, 12.5 rebounds and is shooting 58.8 percent from the field. He has 27 double-doubles on the year, tying him for the most in the country. It’s safe to say Bacot has been fantastic all season long.
Kentucky’s Oscar Tshiebwe was named the Player of the Year by the publication while Drew Timme (Gonzaga), Kofi Cockburn (Illinois), Johnny Davis (Wisconsin) and Ochai Agbaji (Kansas) joined him on the first team.
