It’s been hard for Rams fans to see Robert Woods go after Los Angeles agreed to trade him to the Tennessee Titans on Saturday night, but at least he’s landed in a good spot where his skill set will be well-utilized. That wasn’t by accident, either.
According to Albert Breer, the Rams worked with Woods to find the right destination, seeking a good scheme fit for the receiver. The Titans are certainly that, needing a No. 2 receiver opposite A.J. Brown, and someone who can run block on the outside for Derrick Henry.
Woods is a true do-it-all receiver and will benefit the Titans offense with his skill set, so at least he can take solace knowing he’ll be in a good position to succeed.
And like the Rams, the Titans are also positioned to contend in 2022. They were the AFC’s No. 1 seed last year and have a similar roster to the one they put on the field in 2021. So while the Rams look better now, the Titans also have a shot to win it all next year.
One more on Robert Woods: The Rams worked with him to find the right destination. Titans are a scheme fit—Woods is a great downfield threat off play-action and a strong run blocker—and great intangible fit.
This was a tough 1 for Sean McVay, so Rams wanted to do right by Woods.
