The Irish were going to lose again at some point, that’s just the way baseball works. No team goes undefeated during a season, but Link Jarrett’s team hadn’t felt the agony of defeat in 10-games. The Louisville Cardinals broke that streak, scoring multiple runs in the first, third, sixth, and seventh inning to defeat the Irish 16-11.
The back-and-forth affair started with the Irish scoring three to begin the game, only to see the hosts score five of their own. The top of the third saw Notre Dame’s bats wake up again to tie the game at 5, only to lose that lead again in the bottom of the inning.
The fifth inning the bats would storm back again, with the Irish taking the lead 8-7, and again Louisville countered in the bottom of the inning to tie the game. The Cardinals would then score seven runs over the next two inning to take a lead they would never relinquish.

Every Irish starter had a hit with the exception of Zack Prajzner had a hit, unfortunately the pitching staff couldn’t hold up their end of the bargain. The series continues tomorrow, with a start time at 1:00pm EST.
