Would-be Wizards don’t need to carry a credit card with them, at least not while playing Hogwarts Legacy.
During the most recent State of Play, Warner Brothers Avalanche finally gave Hogwarts Legacy an in-depth walkthrough, an action RPG set in the Harry Potter universe. During the presentation, there was much fan speculation that MoonStones, an in-game currency that modifies gear, might come with a real-life price tag. It’s common for massive titles like this to have microtransactions, but community manager Chandler Wood claims fans have nothing to worry about.
“We’ve seen this question coming up and want to set the record straight,” Wood said on Twitter. “There are no microtransactions in Hogwarts Legacy.”

Microtransactions make some sense in free-to-play multiplayer games, but fans despise them in single-player affairs. Thankfully, Hogwarts Legacy is skipping out on all that drama.
However, Hogwarts Legacy is still reckoning with the ongoing controversy surrounding Harry Potter creator J.K Rowling, whose transphobic comments somewhat overshadow the game’s release. The author isn’t involved with Hogwarts Legacy, and it’s allegedly possible to create transgender characters in the game.
