The Kansas City Chiefs are bringing in a member of the national championship-winning Georgia Bulldogs for a visit ahead of the 2022 NFL draft.
According to ESPN’s Michael Rothstein, Georgia DL Devonte Wyatt has a visit set up with the Chiefs. They’re one of five teams with visits set up with Wyatt, the other teams being the Las Vegas Raiders, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New York Jets and the Philadelphia Eagles.
Listed at 6-3 and 309 pounds, Wyatt was named First-Team All-SEC in 2021, starting 14 games with 39 total tackles, seven tackles for loss, two sacks and 27 total pressures for the Bulldogs. He had a freakish performance at the 2022 NFL Scouting Combine, running an official 4.77s 40-yard dash (97th percentile) with a 1.66s 10-yard split (93rd percentile).
Wyatt would be an interesting pairing with Chris Jones on the Chiefs’ defensive interior, being that they’re similarly disruptive players who play three-technique. Wyatt’s strength is his elite quickness, and the tape shows that he’s a very disruptive player against both the run and the pass.

Top-30 visits are longer canceled due to COVID-19 protocols, so teams will be able to bring 30 players in ahead of the 2022 NFL draft this year. These visits are typically reserved for the players who the team is most interested in getting to know a bit better. In 2019, for instance, the Chiefs had top-30 visits with Juan Thornhill, Darwin Thompson and Tim Ward. All of those players ended up in Kansas City, either via the draft or undrafted free agency. The fact that Wyatt is scheduled for a visit suggests that the Chiefs are at least considering him at pick No. 30 in the first round.
During a top-30 visit, prospects get a chance to tour team facilities, meet with position coaches, front office executives and scouts. On occasion, they’ll get a chance to meet with a few players who are working at the team facility. Really, this is a way for NFL teams to fill in some blank spaces in their scouting reports. Some guys the team will bring in to get more medical information. Other guys will be brought in so teams can get an idea if they’ll fit the team culture.
One thing that doesn’t happen at top-30 visits is on-field workouts or anything like that. If a team wants to do a private workout with a player, they have to do it away from team facilities.
