It has been quite a ride from a rookie deemed a risk to select early in the 2016 NBA draft for being too intellectual (in retrospect, was this the dumbest draft take ever?) to growing into one of the league’s leading figures both on and off the court for star Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown.
The Cal-Berkeley product has had to play a new role with the team almost every season since and has molded his game to fit what the team needs, even in moments where it might have held his own interests back. He’s grown as a leader — both for his team and league and in the wider world — and has grown seemingly comfortable carrying loads others rarely are willing to pick up for even a short time.
In an exclusive video put together by the league, Brown details his own perspective on his transformation into the player and the man that he is today.
