The top-ranked Tennessee men’s tennis team lost its second consecutive home Southeastern Conference dual match on Sunday.
The Volunteers (14-4, 2-2 SEC) dropped a 5-2 decision to No. 4 Florida at Knoxville’s Goodfriend Tennis Center.
Tennessee, which lost to South Carolina Friday in Knoxville, won a pair of singles matches against the Gators (11-2, 4-0 SEC). The Vols prevailed on No. 4vand at No. 6.
At No. 4, Shunsuke Mitsui won his fifth consecutive singles match after rallying from a one-set deficit to defeat Florida’s Andy Andrade, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.
Andrade is the nation’s No. 93 ranked singles player.
At No. 6, Pat Harper defeated the Gators’ Nick Bonetto in straight sets, 7-5, 6-4. Bonetto is ranked No. 119 in the country.
The Vols return to action Sunday, hosting No. 8 Georgia at Barksdale Stadium.
