With the 96th home run of her career, Jocelyn Alo made history, breaking the NCAA all-time home run record. Alo, who passed former Sooners great Lauren Chamberlain, was able to hit the record breaking home run in her home state of Hawaii in front of family and friends.
Against Baylor on Thursday night and Hawaii on Friday night, Alo got the benefit of coaches that were willing to let their pitchers challenge the new home run queen. After being walked 16 times in the last eight games, Alo got to see some pitches and she took advantage.
Already with two hits on the day, Alo hit her record breaking home run in the sixth inning to help the Sooners complete the 11-0 run-rule win of Hawaii.
The senior now has an opportunity to set a potentially unbreakable standard for home runs with more than half the season remaining.
