Marcus Maye’s lawyer files for another continuance in DUI case

Marcus Maye was scheduled to appear in court Wednesday, but his lawyer filed another continuance in his DUI case.

Marcus Maye’s court hearing for a Februray 2021 DUI arrest was delayed again, as his lawyer filed for another continuance, according to Florida court records, per ESPN’s Rich Cimini.

Maye was originally scheduled to appear in court via Zoom on Wednesday. Maye was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, as well as misdemeanors of DUI/damage to property and person and leaving the scene of a crash in Fort Lauderdale, Florida last February.

Six weeks after his DUI arrest, police in Orlando, Florida stopped Maye for speeding and driving with a suspended license, according to NorthJersey.com.

“We’ve all made mistakes and he recognizes the mistake that he made,” Robert Saleh said of Maye in October. “I judge Marcus for how he is since I first met him and that really wasn’t until minicamp.

“Marcus has been an outstanding teammate. He’s been an outstanding individual. His teammates absolutely love him. From my understanding, he hasn’t had many issues as a young man. This is something that he will get through.”

Maye is set to hit free agency after his 2021 season was cut short due to an Achilles injury. The 29-year-old finished with 46 tackles, four tackles for loss two pass deflections and one sack in six games. He also dealt with an ankle injury that forced him to miss time early in the season.
