Rockets: Jalen Green erupts for 32 points in win over Lakers

Green finished with his second 30-point game of the season to lead the Rockets to a win over the Lakers.

Jalen Green produced a career performance and took over late to lead the Houston Rockets to a 139-130 overtime win over LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers.

Green finished with 32 points, three rebounds, three assists and one blocked shot in 38 minutes of work. He scored 19 points combined in the fourth quarter and overtime period to help the Rockets close out the Lakers and post their second win in three games.

James finished with 23 points, 14 rebounds, 12 assists and four blocks.

The performance by Green was his second 30-point game this season, topping his previous career-high of 30 points set on Oct. 24. He now has the most 30-point outings by a first-year player this season.

“For that last stretch, they just kept feeding me,” Green said. “They told me to keep attacking until they stop us so that’s what I did. The basket felt super big tonight so I just kept going.”

Green is in the midst of his best stretch, scoring in double figures in 18 straight games, which is the second-longest streak by a rookie this season (21, Franz Wagner). He is averaging 18.5 points, 3.2 rebounds, 3.1 assists and one steal during that span on 46.9% shooting.

Stephen Silas was happy to see the work by Green show as of late.

It is great to see the hours he puts in upstairs making 500 3s and the work he puts in with (assistant coach) John Lucas and all of the things he has done this season as far as starting off a little bit slow and then slowly but surely getting better and better. Never being afraid of the moment, never shying away from being aggressive. Tonight, he was great.

The second pick has looked incredible as of late for the Rockets and has proven to be the dynamic scorer many thought he could be. The recent run likely came too late to help his chances in the Rookie of the Year race but it is clear that Green has a bright future ahead.
