Seahawks are trading Russell Wilson to Broncos for a massive haul

Blockbuster trade alert: The Seahawks are dealing Russell Wilson to the Broncos for a big haul, including multiple first-round picks.

It’s been a blockbuster day in the NFL for some of the biggest quarterbacks in the NFL. After Aaron Rodgers signed a massive four-year extension with the Packers, the Seahawks are trading nine-time Pro Bowl quarterback Russell Wilson to the Broncos for a massive haul.

According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Seahawks and Broncos “have agreed in principle” on a trade for Wilson that involves multiple first-round draft picks, additional picks and players.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter notes the timing of the Broncos acquiring Wilson has nothing to with Rodgers staying in Green Bay. In fact, “Denver general manager George Paton initiated trade talks with Seattle for Wilson at least two weeks ago, per sources.”

While Denver has found its quarterback in Wilson, that leaves Seattle with a gaping hole at the position. Former fourth-round selection Jacob Eason is the only quarterback currently under contract with the Seahawks.

More to come.
