It certainly would not have gone over well had the Falcons traded away wide receiver Calvin Ridley right before he was suspended by the NFL for betting on games last season.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the team was made aware of Ridley’s actions and declined to engage in trade talks out of good faith.
Multiple NFL teams reached out to the Falcons in recent weeks to inquire about trading for Calvin Ridley, and each time, Atlanta declined to enter into any talks out of good faith, knowing the issues in store for their standout wide receiver, per sources.

Unfortunately, the Falcons are not only losing a talented player, they are losing an asset that could have fetched them a second-round pick in all likelihood.
As we broke down last week, a first-round pick was a bit of a stretch, but teams probably would have stomached giving up a second-rounder for the 27-year-old. Atlanta now enters the new league year with Frank Darby as their only wideout under contract for next season who’s currently on the active roster.
