Celtics injury update II: Boston’s Jaylen Brown upgraded to available vs. Nets; Aaron Nesmith still out

Brown will be available to play against Brooklyn Sunday.

The Boston Celtics will have a key player available as they take on the Brooklyn Nets at TD Garden Sunday afternoon with news that star forward Jaylen Brown will be available to play.

The Georgia native was upgraded to a questionable listing Saturday afternoon after his sprained right ankle responded favorably since Brown hurt it just into the Celtics’ recent comeback win over the Atlanta Hawks. And with fellow Boston wing Aaron Nesmith — who sprained his own ankle just moments into a stint helping fill in for the injured Brown — a definitive scratch for the high-profile afternoon tip.

At the same time, the Nets have not only Kevin Durant back from a sprained MCL and an available Kyrie Irving given local mandates do not block the former Celtic point guard from playing, but also head coach Steve Nash, who returned from the league’s health and safety protocols Saturday.
