Rookie Report: Warriors’ Moses Moody drops 13 points in fourth quarter vs. Mavs

Warriors rookie Moses Moody helped fuel a near-comeback against the Mavericks on Thursday with 13 points in the final frame.

While Klay Thompson missed a pair of games with a general illness, Steve Kerr opted to move rookie Moses Moody into the starting lineup. When Thompson returned to the lineup on Thursday against the Dallas Mavericks, the Golden State Warriors rookie still earned playing time off the bench.

After going scoreless in six minutes off the bench through three quarters, Moody caught fire in the final frame in Dallas. The No. 14 overall pick from the 2021 NBA draft helped fuel a comeback for the Warriors with 13 points on a perfect 5-of-5 shooting from the field.

Moody took a page from Thompson and Steph Curry’s book, drilling a trio of clutch 3-pointers in the fourth quarter. The Arkansas Razorbacks product hit back-to-back triples to cut the Mavericks lead and tie the game with six minutes remaining.

Although the Warriors couldn’t complete the comeback, Moody’s performance should earn him more minutes off the bench down the final stretch of the season.

Along with his 13 points, Moody added two assists and a board in 16 minutes against Luka Doncic and the Mavericks.

Moody and the Warriors will be back on the floor on Saturday in a primetime contest against LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers at 5:30 p.m. PT in Hollywood.
