Ravens GM Eric DeCosta ‘hopeful’ team can bring back DL Calais Campbell

Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta said that he’s “hopeful” that the team can bring back defensive lineman Calais Campbell

The Baltimore Ravens finished the 2021 season at 8-9 after seeing talented playmaker after talented playmaker go down with injury. There were plenty of other storylines from the year, but the team missed the playoffs for the first time since the 2017 season.

On Wednesday, Baltimore general manger Eric DeCosta spoke to the media at the 2022 NFL scouting combine. He was asked about if he’s had any communication with defensive lineman Calais Campbell, and DeCosta revealed that he’s texted back and forth with the veteran.

“We have exchanged text messages. I don’t want to speak for Calais [Campbell], but I asked Calais that … Basically, I said, ‘Listen, if you want to play, I’d like you to let me know at some point, because we thought you had a good year. You are a good player.’ I have a lot of admiration for Calais as a person and as a player and as a leader. So, I’m hopeful that we can bring him back. I’d love to bring him back. He’s a guy that plays winning football, and he does as much for the team and the organization in the building as he does on the field, and so I have a lot of respect for him.”
