A pair of stats that explain why Notre Dame Baseball is so highly ranked

There are more than a few reasons why the Irish have been so successful early

The Irish have gotten off to a fast start this spring, winning their two series, a 5-1 record and a very high ranking among the national polls. Today, the Notre Dame Baseball twitter account gave two reasons why the Irish have been so successful early this season, pitching and scoring runs.

The stats speak for themselves, Link Jarrett’s team ranks in the Top-10 in both scoring and ERA in the country. That is a huge reason why this years squad has done so well, when you pitch like the Irish have it tends to lead to a lot of wins. When you hit like the Irish have been, it tends to lead to a lot of blow out victories.

So far this year, the Irish have scored a total of 71 runs, while allowing just 14, their average runs per game is at 11.83 while their opponents score just 2.33. If Jarrett’s team can keep this up, another deep run in the NCAA Tournament is almost assured.
