Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said rookie Moses Moody was a full participant in practice on Wednesday after suffering an extensive eye injury.
Moody took a shot to the face in the first quarter on Tuesday in a loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves. He was defending a layup attempt by Karl-Anthony Towns and was elbowed in the face. He was later ruled out of returning to play with an eye contusion.
Kerr said on Wednesday that Moody’s eye is still swollen and black and blue but managed to go through practice with the team. He loved the grit and toughness Moody has to be able to practice.
He is tough, one of the things I love about Moses. He is a physical player, unafraid of contact. The play he got hurt on, he was the help defender and got elbowed really hard right in the eye but bounced up and ran back on offense. I didn’t even realize it had happened until I saw him holding it. We had to take him out of the game, obviously, but he has a lot of grit.
Moody earned his second straight start and sixth of the season on Tuesday with the Warriors down several players, recording six points prior to leaving early. He will be questionable to play on Thursday versus the Dallas Mavericks and could make it three straight as a starter.
The 14th pick has given the Warriors solid production this season when called upon. He certainly earned the opportunity to play after showing great determination to practice with such a severe injury.
