EA Sports is removing Russia from FIFA 22 and NHL 22

Both series are severing ties with Russian teams.

Russia’s national soccer team is getting removed from FIFA 22, FIFA Online, and FIFA Mobile.

On Wednesday, EA announced its intentions to follow the actual FIFA and UEFA’s lead by removing Russia’s national soccer team from all FIFA video games.

“EA Sports stands in solidarity with the Ukrainian people and like so many voices across the world of football, calls for peace and an end to the invasion of Ukraine,” EA Sports FIFA’s statement says on Twitter. “In line with our partners at FIFA and UEFA, EA Sports has initiated processes to remove the Russian national team and all Russian clubs from EA Sports FIFA products, including FIFA 22, FIFA Mobile, and FIFA Online.”

FIFA isn’t the only EA property severing ties with Russia over the invasion of Ukraine. EA Sports NHL is doing much the same.

“Following the IIHF’s suspension of all Russian and Belarusian national and club teams from IIHF competitions, we will be removing these teams from NHL 22 within the coming weeks,” EA Sports NHL explains on Twitter. “We stand with the people of Ukraine and join the voices around the world calling for peace.”

Neither statement mentions future titles such as the inevitable FIFA 23 and NHL 23, but those will likely follow suit.
