Colts submit proposal to change overtime rules

The Colts submitted a proposal to the NFL’s competition committee to change possession rules in overtime.

The Indianapolis Colts submitted a proposal to the league’s competition committee on Sunday in hopes to change the overtime rules as they pertain to each team’s possessions.

According to Mark Maske of The Washington Post, the Colts submitted a proposal that would guarantee at least one possession in overtime during regular season and postseason games.

This comes as no surprise considering the overtime game between the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs. The latter scored a touchdown on the opening possession of overtime, bringing an abrupt end to one of the greatest games in recent memory.

As the competition committee meets for four days this week during the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis, the Colts will need to receive 24 of 32 votes in favor of their proposal.
