After an extended All-Star break, the Rockets resumed on-court activities with a Wednesday night practice at Toyota Center in Houston.
The Rockets (15-43) have 24 regular-season games left to play, starting with Friday night’s game at Orlando (13-47) — which could ultimately prove pivotal in terms of eventual 2022 NBA draft positioning.
But head coach Stephen Silas is focused on development and growth from his young squad as the 2021-22 season winds down, and potentially getting a few more wins along the way. One benefit could be improved health, since starters Kevin Porter Jr. (illness) and Eric Gordon (plantar fasciitis) each missed multiple games leading into the break.
After having nearly a full week off to rest, though, both Porter and Gordon are expected to be back in the lineup on Friday versus the Magic.
Scroll on for news and notes learned from Wednesday’s post-practice media availability sessions, which were the first by the team since last Thursday’s blowout loss in Los Angeles versus the Clippers.
