Florida’s victory over No. 2 Auburn on Saturday put the Gators back into the NCAA Tournament conversation. Now the team turns its attention to No. 18 Arkansas for a Tuesday night matchup in Gainesville.
Back-to-back wins over ranked opponents would be huge for Florida given that most projections have them outside of the projected bracket. ESPN’s Joe Lunardi has the Gators at the top of his Next Four Out, but another Quadrant 1 win would likely move them up.
It may take another superman performance from Tyree Appleby to upset the Razorbacks, though. Arkansas also beat Auburn in overtime, but that was in Fayetteville and in front of a raucous crowd. The Rowdy Reptiles should be out in full force once again on Tuesday and that could swing things in Florida’s favor.
If Appleby can score anywhere near the 26 points he put up against Auburn, Florida will have a chance to win the game. Myreon Jones has also been hot lately, shooting over 50% from three-point range over the past six games. Of course, Florida also needs Colin Castleton to stay hot. He’s averaging 15 points and nine rebounds per game and seems to be hitting his stride since returning from injury.
