Arkansas head coach Eric Musselman made the most of the NBA All-Star Weekend. Several former players had time off and chose to be in Fayetteville rather than Cleveland – a smart choice in most circumstances, especially so when former Hogs can come home and get some love at Bud Walton Arena.
Recent past heroes like Bobby Portis, Isaiah Joe, and Moses Moody joined a half dozen other former Razorbacks for the Saturday showdown with Tennessee.
They joined more than 20,000 other Hogs fans and willed the Muss Bus across the finish line in what was the most beautifully ugly game of the season. Tennessee couldn’t get a shot off against the Razorbacks defense. Arkansas couldn’t do much better, but they did just enough and made their free throws down the stretch set the final margin at 10 points.
The traditional box score reads more like a horror novel than a fairy tale, so let’s go beyond the box once again to find some interesting nuggets that help explain today’s win.
