A happy 30th anniversary on Sunday to one of the all-time greatest sports-themed episodes of television: “Home at the Bat,” a 1992 episode of The Simpsons starring nine Major League Baseball players hired as ringers to win a softball game for Montgomery Burns’ Springfield Power Plant team.
It’s an iconic episode for so many reasons, so much so that Homer Simpson — who delivered the game-winning RBI thanks to a hit-by-pitch that knocked him cold — received his own Baseball Hall of Fame plaque.
