Without Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving or Ben Simmons available, the Nets fell behind at Madison Square Garden but staged furious fourth-quarter comeback to secure their first winning streak of the month.
Brooklyn got off to an awful start on the road, allowing the Knicks to score 38 points in the first quarter, and trailed 65-44 entering halftime. The Nets made a big run to cut the deficit to start the third, closing the gap to as little as seven points, but the Knicks responded with a run of their own and reestablished a 14-point advantage to start the fourth quarter.
Two quick buckets from the Knicks saw the lead balloon to 91-73 with 11 minutes to play – but Cam Thomas and LaMarcus Aldridge led a sensational comeback in what might have been the Nets’ best single-quarter performance of the season. Thomas scored 16 of his 21 points in the fourth and took over the game, sealing the win with a 3-pointer with 7.7 seconds remaining.
