No. 2 Tennessee’s men’s tennis team (8-1) won its second consecutive match Sunday.
The Vols defeated Columbia, 4-3, at Goodfriend Tennis Center. Tennessee defeated Charlotte, 4-0, Saturday.
Tennessee surrendered a doubles point against Columbia (4-2).
The Vols won four of the six singles matches to claim victory.
Tennessee freshman Angel Diaz, ranked No. 122 in the ITA rankings, clinched the match with a three-set victory over Max Westphal.
Diaz prevailed, 7-6 (10-8), 6-7 (7-4), 6-2, at No. 3 singles.
At No. 2, Tennessee’s Johannus Monday, ranked 10th in the nation, defeated No. 77 Hugo Hashimoto, 6-2, 6-2.
Emile Hudd (No. 100) outlasted Roko Horvat, 3-6, 7-6 (2), 6-1.
Tennessee’s Shunsuke Mitsui (No. 114) defeated Henry Ruger in straight sets, 7-5, 6-2.
