After an extremely disappointing three-game skid that contained some of their worst basketball of the season, the now 14-9 Colorado Buffaloes were able to turn things around last weekend with a commanding win over the Oregon State Beavers.
Luckily for Colorado, it has some very winnable games on deck in the coming weeks, including its Saturday home matchup against the Utah Utes.
The Utes are an unimpressive 9-15 on the season and have won just one of their last 12 games. They are also 0-8 on the road and 2-12 against Pac-12 opponents, which doesn’t bode well for them heading to Boulder this weekend.
At an intimidating 7-feet tall, junior center Branden Carlson is Utah’s biggest threat with his averages of 13.2 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. His 86% free throw mark is good enough for third overall in the Pac-12, which could come in clutch for the Utes if it turns into a tight battle in Boulder.

All Colorado needs to do in order to secure a victory over the Utes is to make smart decisions with the basketball and limit the turnovers. The Buffs had 13 turnovers in their recent win over Oregon State, and they have had fewer than 15 turnovers in nine of their 14 victories this year.
If Colorado can keep its play clean and get reasonable offensive production from its starters, a victory should be well within reach this weekend. Tipoff is set for 6:00 p.m. MT on the Pac-12 Network.
