With the Philadelphia 76ers now acquiring James Harden from the Brooklyn Nets, the question then becomes how long will Harden be in Philadelphia? He had the option to become an unrestricted free agent in the 2022 offseason, but he quickly put those thoughts to bed.
Harden will officially opt-in to his $47.3 million player option for the 2022-23 season meaning he will remain with the Sixers next season. Philadelphia will now be able to continue to grow around The Beard and Joel Embiid and this now puts the Sixers back at the top of the Eastern Conference title contenders.
This also cuts the Sixers a break a bit as they now will not have to offer Harden a supermax in the offseason in order to keep him in Philadelphia.

Harden is in a bit of a “down year”, but he is averaging 22.5 points 10.2 assists, and 8.0 rebounds. He also gets to the foul line 8.0 times per game as he is an aggressive player who can score at will. This is a big move for the Sixers to get it done on the floor.
