This past season was my best season. Not statistically but because I took blows of adversity with my head up & with a smile.God keep me focused & keep me humble. It’s not about the riches, but about being the best,& I’ll let you handle the rest. Running my own race pic.twitter.com/w8J4QARJSb

Tennessee Titans wide receiver A.J. Brown believes the 2021 season was his best yet. His reasoning had nothing to do with stats, though, but rather his ability to overcome adversity.
Brown not only had to deal with injuries, he also admitted he overcame a bout with depression in 2020 that led to his having suicidal thoughts.
“I’m kind of nervous, even to be saying this, but a year ago from today, I thought about taking my own life,” Brown admitted in a video. “I had no more hope for better days and everything was just going wrong for me. The reason I am sharing this message today to you is that I’m still here. I’m still going. I’m still smiling and I’ve got a lot of things to be grateful for. I just want to encourage everyone to protect your mental. Talk to someone. Get things off your chest. Do things that make you happy. It’s so important.
“I didn’t think depression was real until it happened to me. But now I know it’s really real.”
The admission was a surprising one, as Brown always seemed upbeat and is usually all smiles when the cameras are on him. It just goes to show you never know what is bubbling underneath someone’s surface.
Brown sharing his story of triumph over depression was important. It shined a light on a serious issue that needs more attention and he served as a beacon of hope for those going through the same struggle.
