Packers sign TE Alize Mack to futures deal

The Packers signed TE Alize Mack, a 2019 seventh-round pick, to a futures deal.

The Green Bay Packers signed tight end Alize Mack to a reserve/futures deal, according to the league’s transaction wire on Monday.

Mack, a seventh-round pick of the New Orleans Saints in 2019, visited the Packers on Tuesday of last week.

The former Notre Dame star is an elite athlete. He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.74 seconds, hit 36″ in the vertical leap, finished the three-cone drill in 7.27 seconds and completed 22 reps in the bench press at the 2019 NFL Scouting Combine.

Mack has never appeared in a regular-season NFL game.

Mack (6-4, 249) has played for four different NFL teams. He spent time with the Detroit Lions last season.

The Packers may see Mack as the type of athlete who could carve out a niche as a move tight end in Matt LaFleur’s offense. The team only has Marcedes Lewis, Josiah Deguara and Tyler Davis under contract at tight end entering the offseason.

A futures deal becomes active at the start of the new league year in mid-March.
