Oklahoma’s Perrion Winfrey named Senior Bowl MVP

After a tremendous week in Mobile, Sooners defensive tackle Perrion Winfrey earned MVP honors after the National team won 20-10.

The Oklahoma Sooners were well represented at the 2022 Senior Bowl with five players looking to make a name for themselves in the all-star week. Jeremiah Hall, Isaiah Thomas, Marquis Hayes, Brian Asamoah, and Perrion Winfrey stood out at different times during the week, but it was Winfrey who was getting the most buzz.

Winfrey was named the Senior Bowl MVP after a tremendous performance on Saturday. After a near-dominant week in individual and team drills Winfrey carried that over into the game, helping the National team, coached by the New York Jets, 20-10. Winfrey had a couple of sacks and impressed Senior Bowl Director Jim Nagy with his demeanor on the sidelines.

Winfrey, who is currently projected to be selected in the second round arguably saw a big bump to his draft stock. With his productive week, he could push his name into first round consideration by April.

Over the next few months teams will get more of a taste of Winfrey’s personality, size, and athleticism during Oklahoma’s Pro Day, team workouts and the NFL draft combine.

Winfrey’s pass rush ability, physicality, and motor will make NFL teams salivate as they look to improve their interior defensive line.
