The Los Angeles Lakers are not expected to have Carmelo Anthony available against the New York Knicks, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
This was likely going to be the case after Anthony pulled his hamstring in Thursday’s game against the L.A. Clippers. He went up for a shot but immediately came down and grabbed his right hamstring.
Head coach Frank Vogel called a timeout and Anthony walked straight to the locker room.
Anthony has been a vital piece to the Lakers’ rotation, especially as a floor-spacing forward. The Lakers turned to veteran Trevor Ariza to replace Anthony after the injury, so Ariza should be in the rotation against the Knicks.
Anthony will be re-evaluated after more days of rest before Tuesday’s game against the Milwaukee Bucks.
