Houston Rockets rookie Josh Christopher on Tuesday appeared to react to his exclusion from the 2022 NBA Rising Stars game set to take place on Feb. 18 during All-Star Weekend.
The NBA on Tuesday announced the 28 players that will participate in the annual showcase game but did not include Christopher among them. Instead, Rockets teammates Jalen Green and Alperen Sengun were among the 12 rookies chosen to play.
Christopher, the 24th pick, is averaging 7.3 points, two rebounds and 1.8 assists in 42 games this season. Of the 12 rookies selected, only two were drafted lower than him (Herb Jones and Ayo Dosunmu) while his points per game would be the lowest of any first-year player selected.
Still, the Rockets guard felt slighted by the exclusion.
Congrats to all the Rising stars ! 😎

The assistant coaches from around the NBA were responsible for voting on the players this year so Christopher can point the finger at those individuals for his exclusion. However, with the rookie class performing very well, Christopher may have been on the outside looking in.
In any case, Christopher will likely use the Rising Stars snub as motivation for the rest of the season. We may see him perform at an even higher level now as the Rockets look ahead to the second half of the season.
