Penn State makes top 5 for rising Class of 2023 offensive lineman

Penn State makes top five for rising Class of 2023 offensive lineman.

Penn State’s continued effort to beef up on the offensive line on the recruiting trail continues to be paying dividends. On Tuesday, the day before the traditional national signing day, Penn State earned a spot in the top five of Class of 2023 offensive tackle. Sam Pendleton, from North Carolina, released his personal top five with an image on his Twitter account, and Penn State made the cut with some stiff competition.

Pendleton listed Penn State along with Virginia Tech, NC State, Clemson, and Michigan. Early crystal ball picks for Pendleton have trended in Clemson’s favor early on, but there is still a long way to go in this recruiting process. Penn State, at this point in time, does appear to be a longshot. Virginia Tech is a program that is supposedly viewing Pendleton as a top target under new head coach and former Penn State defensive coordinator Brent Pry.

Recruiting rankings are mixed or incomplete at this stage as well. Rivals ranks Pendleton as a four-star recruit, while On3 rates him with three stars on their ranking system. There is no rating available from 247Sports or ESPN at this point in time.

Penn State has already made an initial splash with offensive line recruiting in the Class of 2023 with the commitments of Alex Birchmeier and Joshua Miller. And it recently picked up a commitment from Anthony Donkah for another offensive linemen in the next recruiting cycle.

But there’s always room for one more.
