Tom Brady is reportedly ready to retire from professional football.
If he is, in fact, done it’s possible this was because he’d run out of fingers to count his Super Bowl appearances on.
Brady’s departure leaves him as the most successful player in NFL history by a wide margin. His 10 Super Bowls are four more than the next closest players (his former kicker, Stephen Gostkowski and nose tackle Mike Lodish). His seven wins are two more than Charles Haley, who sits in second place in the league ranks.
Brady didn’t just get to the big game; he took a spectacle and made the action on the field match the hype that surrounded it. Eight of his 10 appearances were absolute bangers, decided in the final minutes. Only one was a blowout (and it was, somehow, against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs’ juggernaut offense).
Now that we know there won’t be another appearance (probably. Brady could always return at age 58 to lead the London Beefeaters to a title), let’s look back at each Super Bowl and figure out which performance was his best. Number one will (not) surprise you!
