The Chicago Bears hired Ryan Poles as their general manager on Tuesday, and it seems they could be close to landing their head coach, as well.
The Bears have three head coach finalists in Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, Indianapolis Colts defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus and former Detroit Lions and Indianapolis Colts head coach Jim Caldwell.
Both Quinn and Eberflus are at Halas Hall on Wednesday to interview with Poles. Caldwell interviewed for the position on Tuesday.
And according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, a decision on the head coach “should be coming soon.”

The assumption is Poles has autonomy in the head coach search, which is why many are wondering if more candidates could be added to the list. After all, Quinn, Caldwell and Eberflus were all scheduled for second interviews before Poles was even hired as GM.
While it could be Poles is comfortable with the idea of all three, you’d have to assume Poles would want to explore the waters a little bit. That could include fellow Boston College alum and friend Brian Flores, who was considered a favorite to land the Chicago job.
If Quinn, Caldwell or Eberflus don’t blow Poles away, perhaps we could see him expand the coaching search. Right now, no head coaches have been hired for the current nine vacancies.
