Crytek has just revealed that Crysis 4 is officially in development. This will be the first new game in the first-person shooter series since 2013’s Crysis 3.
The announcement was made via Crytek’s official Twitter account. Captioned, “It’s time to join the journey and be a hero,” the associated video is fairly nebulous outside of the massive “4” that shows up at the end.

While this obviously serves as confirmation that Crysis 4 is definitely a thing, it’s probably best not to get your hopes up for it to launch any time soon.
“Right now the game is in the early stages of development so it will be a while yet,” Crytek CEO Avni Yerli said in a press release. “We wanted to bring you the news at this time as we are so hyped for the future, and to let you know that we will be listening to our community.

“As development progresses we will release more details when we can. But in the meantime, know that our dedicated and talented team is working hard to bring you a truly next-gen shooter.”
Yerli also stated that Crysis 4 development will not have a negative impact on Hunt: Showdown players, who can also expect news pertaining to what’s planned for “this year and beyond.”
At the time of writing, very little else is known about Crysis 4 aside from the fact it’s being made. Still, that information alone will be enough to excite fans who have been waiting almost a decade for news on the long-dormant series. Here’s hoping it lives up to its predecessors.
