UFC targeting Macy Chiasson vs. Norma Dumont for May 7

Norma Dumont is expected to fight on home country turf for the first time in her UFC tenure.

A women’s featherweight fight, a rarity, is in the works for the first UFC event of May.

On May 7, [autotag]Macy Chiasson[/autotag] and [autotag]Norma Dumont[/autotag] will collide, pending bout finalization. The event is expected to take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, though no official announcement has been made at this time.

No other fights have yet been made public for the May 7 event.

Two people with knowledge of the targeted booking recently informed MMA Junkie but asked to remain anonymous as the promotion has yet to make an official announcement. MMA Fighting first reported the matchup.

Chiasson (7-2 MMA, 5-2 UFC), a member of renowned Dallas-based gym Fortis MMA, will look to rebound from a submission loss suffered against former UFC title challenger Raquel Pennington in December. The loss snapped a two-fight winning streak that included consecutive victories over Shanna Young and Marion Reneau.

Dumont (7-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC) has racked up wins in the UFC since her promotional debut loss against Megan Anderson in February 2020. Three consecutive victories included Ashlee Evans-Smith, Felicia Spencer, and most recently Aspen Ladd in her first UFC headlining bout. All of those wins came by decision.
