Patch 2.4 is coming to Diablo 2: Resurrected soon, and it’ll be tweaking class balance in ways fans haven’t seen for more than a decade.
On Jan. 25, 2022, Patch 2.4 will come to Diablo 2: Resurrected’s Public Test Realm (PTR). Blizzard hasn’t released a balance patch for Diablo 2 since March 23, 2010, when Patch 1.13 came out. So this new update is a big deal since fiddling with classic western RPGs can sometimes water down what makes them great.
Some changes and additions coming with Patch 2.4 of Diablo 2: Resurrected include:
- Class Balance Changes
- Rune Words
- Horadric Cube Recipes
The PTR is only available in the PC version of Diablo 2: Resurrected, so console fans will have to wait longer to try it out. Once Blizzard is done collecting feedback from the PTR, they’ll push out the full release later.

ForTheWin spoke with Vicarious Visions studio design director Rob Gallerani right before Diablo 2: Resurrected came out last fall. He claims the team wanted its remaster to mimic the original release to a tee. So anyone somewhat nervous about Blizzard playing around with Diablo 2’s balance should remember everyone working on Resurrected is taking a lot of care with any chances.
Diablo is one of many franchises Microsoft will soon own, thanks to the acquisition of Activision Blizzard. Several QA workers within the company are unionizing following layoffs in December.
