Since Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard, everyone has been wondering if Call of Duty will become an Xbox exclusive.
From the sounds of things, the series will still come to PlayStation consoles for now. At least, that’s what Xbox head Phil Spencer says.
“Had good calls this week with leaders at Sony. I confirmed our intent to honor all existing agreements upon acquisition of Activision Blizzard and our desire to keep Call of Duty on PlayStation,” Spencer said on Twitter. “Sony is an important part of our industry, and we value our relationship.”
There’s been a lot of speculation about whether or not the video game industry could handle Call of Duty becoming a first-party exclusive. Some experts even claim to do so could put Microsoft in the sights of antitrust regulators. Sony themselves said that contractual agreements would keep Activision Blizzard titles on PlayStation.

It’s hard to say if Spencer’s statement means all future Call of Duty games will continue to be on PS5, but PlayStation fans can rest easy for now. Call of Duty: Warzone doesn’t seem to be going anywhere, at least.
Most industry professionals still don’t know what to make of Activision Blizzard becoming part of Xbox, and that uneasy feeling isn’t likely to go away anytime soon.
